Psychoanalytic Electronic Publishing (PEP)

The New PEP-Web Platform 2021 Beta has now launched!

New PEP-Web Interface

Click here to access The New PEP-Web platform!

For the last three years PEP has been developing a modern new interface with many extra features and the capability for further feature development.  The development was necessitated by a commercial takeover of our existing provider who served us extraordinarily well for twenty years and have also been very helpful in the changeover.

Its now available in Beta – meaning there may still be some rough edges and not all features are fully operational. Once the Beta phase has proved that everything works well enough, the existing platform will close.

About the new PEP-Web 2021 Platform…

The new platform combines a set of interacting software developments written in open-source code. It is, therefore, available to other publishers to develop.

The key thing to notice in this modern version is that there are improved search, browse and refine features, opportunities for personalisation so that users will be able to configure the colour scheme, type sizes, the language of instructions, etc., and to receive suggestions for articles fitting their search pattern. They will also be able save articles for later reading. You will not that users are offered expert picks of the day, a graphic of the day, a video selection of the day, etc. These new feature are designed to showcase PEP’s contents and to remind users of classic articles from across the field. Further features will follow.

Please do try it out! You can provide feedback and report any errors you encounter using the “Help” icon on the top right corner.

The PEP-Web 2021 Release is Here!

This release provides another year of all current publications which move out of the publisher’s embargo period: subscribers will have access to the 2017 issues of current journals with three year embargoes, and 2015 issues of journals with five year embargoes.

This year, we have deferred adding any new journals because we have had a much bigger objective: a completely new PEP-Web platform!

Among many new features, the new PEP-Web will adapt to your browser size allowing you to take advantage of larger windows, while also providing better navigation and viewing on smaller windows, including mobile phones and tablets.  It will also have many personalization features, which will allow you to customize the organization of the information and the style settings of the interface.  You will be able to save favorites lists, as well as to keep a list of items you want to read later.  It will also, for the first time, have a multilingual interface: as we add new translations, you will be able to set in your preferences your choice of language for the user interface.  Of course, that doesn’t directly apply to the articles in PEP-Web.  They are still in the language in which they were published.  But as before, you can use the Google Chrome browser translation feature to automatically translate article content to any language Google supports.  Thankfully, the Google translation feature is “sticky” and can continue to automatically translate articles as you follow the links in PEP or otherwise switch between articles.

There are many more features, but we’ll save the list for our official announcement, which will come in the second quarter of 2021.  Stay tuned!  Meanwhile, a sneak preview of the new PEP-Web:

This release provides another year of all current publications which move out of the publisher’s embargo period: subscribers will have access to the 2016 issues of current journals with three year embargoes, and 2014 issues of journals with five year embargoes.

And we have added three new journals!

Psikanaliz Yazıları (Psychoanalytic Writings): 2000-current

Launched in 2000, Psychoanalytic Writings is the first Turkish-language periodical on psychoanalysis. It’s published biannually, in spring and autumn, by Istanbul Psychoanalytical Association, the first component society of IPA in Turkey and its region. Psychoanalytic Writings has played, and continues to play, an important role in promoting psychoanalysis in Turkey, and establishing ties between psychoanalysis and related disciplines. The Turkish-language journal publishes the articles of prominent psychoanalysts from Turkey and various other countries.

Psychoanalytic Books: 1990-1999

Joseph Reppen’s journal, Psychoanalytic Books, is a compendium of reviews of the important books of its era, the 1990’s, written by many of the best scholars in our field.

Revue française de psychanalyse: 1927-current

The leading French Journal since 1927 and a repository of many of the most important articles in our discipline. Check out the articles by Freud, Lacan, Green, Chasseguet-Smirgel, McDougall, Viderman and many many more. Thanks are due to Denys Ribas (Former editor and President SPP), the Paris Psychoanalytic Society and their library and librarians (SPP), Christine Mique-Bez and Charles Ruelle (Presses Universitaires de France).
